Ghost In The Shell.

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest. I’m Jonathan Essary, an award-winning designer, technologist, & researcher specializing in the complex systems around people & places as a Product Manager at Dialexa, an IBM company.

Who I am.

I am a Fusionist, meaning I have sincere interests/obsessions in many different fields of work and quickly gain knowledge around a topic to make a meaningful contribution. Often, my contribution is discernment or understanding of how things fit together, allowing me to navigate vagueness and generate actionable clarity for what to do next, create a strategy for the future, or provide more perspective on how an event or product might affect other systems connected to it.

What I do professionally.

As a product manager, I specialize in product delivery that solves complex problems through technology, process, and strategy design. My experience and methods help lead interdisciplinary teams through digital product development that aligns with business outcomes for enterprise clients. I focus on human-centric delivery and the socio-economic implications of emerging technologies of complex systems for people and places. I am also the product owner of the R&D of our AI services and development, and I run a small art and print shop called Space Therapy Shop as well as a small batch 3D printing product shop with my wife called Abstracts & Geos. Check them and let me know what you think.

What I like to write about.

I sit at the intersection of digital and physical worlds, examining the role technology plays in our everyday lives, and write about the impact of modern technology and digital products on people and places at various scales and systems. I talk about this as the Technosapien Condition, where we as a species have evolved our way of thinking, interacting, and engaging with each other and the environment around us by making digital technology essential to our quality of life. The ramifications of this are unknown since we’ve never been here before. I'm deeply committed to finding out just what it means to live, prosper, and understand the landscape of this newly developed existence so we can better navigate the Technosapien Condition together.
